Assistant Chief Harry Hess
Began his Law Enforcement Career with the City of Doraville Police department in July of 2004 as a jailer. He went to the Police Academy January of 2005 and was assigned to the Patrol Division. While in patrol he was utilized as a Field Training Officer and COPS officer (community outreach and code enforcement).
He left Doraville Police Department in May of 2008 and went to the City of Morrow Police Department in their Patrol Division. In January 2009 he was reassigned to the HEAT Unit through the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and Special Operations Unit conducting traffic enforcement and street level crimes investigations. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May of 2010 and was reassigned back to the Patrol Division. In January 2013 I was transferred to the Office of Professional Standards where I conducted background investigations, recruitment for the agency and was assigned as the Departmental Training Officer. Under his supervision was also State Certification, Evidence and Departmental Purchasing. While at the City of Morrow he completed over 200 hours of Accident Investigations Training, General Instructor Certification, Firearms Instructor Certification, Active Shooter Instructor Certification, Defensive Tactics Instructor Certification, Supervision Certification and received my Intermediate Certification. He also completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology while employed with the City of Morrow Police Department
He came to the City of Clarkston Police Department in January of 2017 as the departments training and state certification manager. This includes internal affairs, background investigations, recruitment and several other roles. He was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief in September of 2019.
